Song Sung Blue Trailer: Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson team up for an epic musical showdown

Inspired by Greg Kohs' documentary, Song Sung Blue is written and directed by Craig Brewer

The first trailer for Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson's upcoming musical drama Song Sung Blue has been released by Focus Features and showcases the couple's efforts to form a Neil Diamond tribute band.

Inspired by Greg Kohs' documentary, Song Sung Blue, written and directed by Craig Brewer, chronicles the uplifting story of Mike and Claire Sardina, a Milwaukee couple who found success and fame performing together as 'Lightning and Thunder', borrowing the name from the 1972 Diamond song. Going by the 2.45-minute-long trailer it looks the film will follow their lives as the travel together through every up and down in their journey of rising to fame, proving it's never too late to find love and follow your dreams.

The rest of the cast stars Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi. Brewer is best known for Hustle & Flow, Dolemite Is My Name and Coming 2 America.

Focus Features and Davis Entertainment have backed the film. Focus retains global rights, with Universal Pictures International overseeing international distribution. Erika Hampson and Greg Kohs serve as executive producers.

Song Sung Blue will be released in theatres on December 25 for Christmas.

Jackman, who recently starred in Deadpool and Wolverine alongside Ryan Reynolds has proved his musical prowess and stage presence in The Greatest Showman (2017). On the work front, Jackman also has Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie and The Death of Robin Hood in the pipeline. On the other hand, Kate Hudson's Running Point season 2 is currently under production.
