Charles Dickens' story A Christmas Carol is set to have yet another adaptation in Hollywood, this time featuring Johnny Depp as Ebenezer Scrooge. Ti West, who is known for films such as X, MaXXXine, and Pearl, has been tapped to direct Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. Distributor Paramount Pictures is in the last phase of negotiations to acquire the film. Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures is open to releasing it on November 13, 2026, in theatres.

Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol is written by Nathaniel Halpern and is also set to feature actor Andrea Riseborough. According to the official description, the film is "a thrilling ghost story set in Dickens’ London, following one man’s supernatural journey to face his past, present and future and fight for a second chance."

The adaptation of A Christmas Carol is considered Depp's first major role in Hollywood after he won the defamation lawsuit against former spouse Amber Heard. Johnny Depp's upcoming films include Lionsgate's thriller Day Drinker, which also stars Penelope Cruz and which too is expected to have a 2026 release.
