Amazon MGM+ has announced that Bosch: Start of Watch, a prequel to Bosch, is greenlit. The series will star Cameron Monaghan and Omari Hardwick in lead roles.

Bosch: Start of Watch is created by Tom Bernardo and Brian Anthony, with Bernardo as the showrunner. They adapt Michael Connelly's novel series for the prequel. Bernardo and Anthony serve as executive producers along with Conelly, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin, and Jasmine Russ. Hieronymous Pictures is backing the series along with Amazon MGM Studios.

Monaghan will portray a young Harry Bosch, a probationary officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), who is a stoic, observant, and unyielding man. He's smart, relentless, determined, fiercely protective of the victims of crime. Meanwhile, Hardwick will portray Eli Bridges, Bosch's training officer and a veteran of the Vietnam War, who mentors Bosch through the complex world of Los Angeles and LAPD.

Bosch premiered in 2014 and followed the titular policeman as he navigated through the crime ridden world of Los Angeles. Two spin-offs, Bosch: Legacy and Ballard was later released on Prime Video.
