Shea Whigham joins Jamie Foxx's Fight for '84

The rest of the cast will star alongside Foxx and Malachi Beasley

Actor Shea Whigham, of Boardwalk Empire fame, along with several others, has joined the Jamie Foxx film Fight for '84. The rest of the cast will star alongside Foxx and Malachi Beasley.

The film has Foxx play the new coach of the US Olympic boxing team after the original team tragically died in a plane crash in 1980. His character is tasked with rebuilding the team from scratch.

Joining Shea Whigham are Dan Perrault, Will Chase, Algee Smith, Jamir Cope, Mitchell Edwards, Al-Shabazz Jabateh, Tre McBride, Xavier Mills, Adrian Martinez, and Javier Bolanos.

Fight for '84 is directed by Andrés Baiz, who is known for his work on Narcos and Griselda. The script was written by Andrea Berloff, John Gatins, and Andy Weiss. The film is produced by Eric Newman's Grand Electric, Bryan Unkeless's Night Owl, and Foxx and Michael W Abbott's A Move Films Production. The filming is underway in New Jersey.
