Marvel has revealed that the upcoming miniseries, Wonder Man, will premiere on January 27, 2026. A trailer for the miniseries was also unvieled at the New York Comic Con (NYCC), where the announcement was made.
Consisting of eight episodes the miniseries stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams/Wonder Man, a struggling actor trying to get the role of Wonder Man, which is to be directed by a reclusive director Von Kovak. Oscar winner Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 and Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Trevor Slattery is a man who is competing with Simon Williams for the role of Wonder Man.
Speaking at the NYCC, Abdul-Mateen II said, "As an actor, there's so much that goes into it. There's vulnerability, there's ego, there's hopes and dreams, there's ambition, there's the lonely road. As Simon, I get to walk that fine line and experience all of that. I'm really excited to share Simon's journey towards achieving his dream."
The rest of the cast of Wonder Man includes Demetrius Goose, Ed Harris, Arian Moayed, Lauren Glazier, Olivia Thirlby, and Zlatko Buric. Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Andrew Guest have created Wonder Man.
The series is the third superhero outing for Abdul-Mateen II. He played the role of Cal Abar/Dr Manhattan in HBO's Watchmen, an adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' comic book series of the same name. He also played the role of David Kane/Black Manta in Aquaman (2018) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023).
