Fan theories about Interstellar, Christopher Nolan's epic science-fiction film from 2014, have been rampant ever since the film's release. One of the theories suggests that there is a connection between Matthew McConaughey's character in the film and the Bible. Oddly enough, even Mcconaughey did not recollect his character's full name from the film. In a recent interview with VT, the actor struggled to remember it and pretended to seek director Nolan's help. When the host told Mcconaughey that the film does not reveal his character's full name and asked for it, the actor said that even he is unaware of it. Eventually, he asked the host to give him a hint; in reply, she said that the name is connected to Jesus and Mary. Mcconaughey then said hilariously that it is Cooper Joseph, not realising that Cooper is the character's second name.

For the uninitiated, Joseph is the earthly father of Jesus Christ. Netizens have since been drawing parallels to the film's protagonist and the Bible, with the former having the initials JC. According to them, the film's protagonist has an arc that resembles Jesus Christ, especially his great sacrifice for all of humanity and his comeback from the four-dimensional world. Some netizens also see the funny side of Mcconaughey's revelation as they use his iconic line, "alright alright alright," from Dazed and Confused to sum up the situation.

Speaking of Interstellar, Matthew McConaughey currently stars in director Paul Greengrass' survival drama The Lost Bus for Apple TV+ alongside America Ferrera. He is also part of the now-paused series Brothers, co-starring Woody Harrelson.
