The other day, we reported about Tom Cruise accepting his Honorary Oscar from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Governors Awards. Alejandro G Inarritu, the director of his next film, presented him with the award. Subsequently, Cruise took to social media to share a striking coincidence with his award and his next film's director. Posting a photograph featuring him with the filmmaker, he wrote on social media, "Today, I share the first photo taken last year during a rehearsal on the set of my new film with Alejandro G Inarritu." The actor added that he watched Inarritu's critically acclaimed debut film Amores Perros 25 years ago. "This weekend, 25 years later, I was deeply moved to have been presented the Honorary Oscar by you, my dear friend," Cruise wrote.

The actor continued, "I cannot wait to share our new film with you all next year!" It marks Inarritu's first film in English after 2015's The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, among others. Inarritu is directing it from a screenplay he has written alongside his Birdman collaborators Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, as well as Sabina Berman. Sandra Huller, Michael Stuhlbarg, John Goodman, Sophie Wilde, and Jesse Plemons are also part of the film' cast.
