Dune: Prophecy season 2 goes on floors; Indira Varma, Ashley Walters and Tom Hollander join cast

Dune: Prophecy is set more than 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies

Almost a year after being renewed, Dune: Prophecy season 2 has started production with new cast members Indira Varma (Coldwater, The Night Manager), Ashley Walters (Top Boy, Adolescence) and Tom Hollander (The White Lotus, The Night Manager). The 8-episode series will be filming across places in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain with Alison Schapker returning as showrunner from the first season.

Set more than 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies, Dune: Prophecy followed "two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled order that will become known as the Bene Gesserit." It is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson. Details regarding season 2's release date and the story it will follow are currently unknown. Indira Varma, Ashley Walters and Tom Hollander's characters have also not been revealed.

Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones are returning for season 2. Indian actor Tabu played Sister Francesca, a formidable figure within the order in the first season. It is not known if she will return for the second season.

Apart from serving as the showrunner Alison Schapker will be the executive producer of season 2 along with Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, Kevin Lau, Monica Owusu-Breen, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts. Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert for the Frank Herbert estate are also executive producers. Dune: Prophecy season 2 is co-produced by Kevin J Anderson.

Meanwhile, production for Dune: Part Three is also ongoing. The upcoming film is based on Frank Herbert's Dune: Messiah
