Netflix’s hit live-action adaptation of One Piece is expanding its cast, with Cobra Kai star Xolo Mariduena set to come aboard for the show’s third season. The actor will portray the fan-favourite character Portgas D Ace when the series resumes production later this year in Cape Town, South Africa.

Based on Eiichiro Oda’s record-breaking manga, the best-selling Japanese comic series of all time, One Piece follows Monkey D Luffy and his crew as they embark on an epic ocean voyage in search of the legendary treasure that will make Luffy the King of the Pirates.

The live-action series became a massive global success upon its debut in 2023, topping Netflix’s Global Top 10 for eight consecutive weeks. It reached the No. 1 spot in more than 75 countries and made history as the first English-language Netflix show to debut at No. 1 in Japan.

The second season, titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line, is set to premiere on March 10, 2026. The second season of the series will follow the adventures of the Straw Hat crew, led by Monkey D Luffy, as they sail towards the Grand Line, visiting places like Drum Island, as the crew sails in search of Gold Roger's famed treasure, the One Piece.

Returning for the second season are Inaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar. Also joining the second season are Charithra Chandran, Katey Segal, David Dastmalchian, Joe Manganiello, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Mikaela Hoover, among others.

One Piece has Joe Tracz as a showrunner, with Ian Stokes joining the second season as a showrunner. The series was developed by Netflix in a partnership with Shueisha, with Tomorrow Studios backing the series.

For Maridueña, this marks another major role with Netflix following his breakout success in Cobra Kai. The actor also headlined DC’s Blue Beetle in 2023, playing Jaime Reyes.
