HBO Max, the distributor of It – Welcome to Derry, dropped the first official teaser for the series, which serves as a sequel to the two IT films. Set 27 years before the events of the first IT film, the series serves as an origin story of Pennywise the Clown, a predatory clown who preys on children. As reported earlier, Bill Skarsgard reprises his role from the films as Pennywise in the series from creator, IT duology director Andy Muschietti. The teaser starts with two male adults picking up a child stranded on the road, not knowing where to go. The male adult asks the child where he wants to go, and the latter says, "Anywhere but Derry." Then, the teaser proceeds to offer us glimpses of the series' plot, exploring Pennywise's carnivorous reign in Derry. The teaser ends with a sneak peek into Skarsgard's character Pennywise, a bit like with the recent trailer for Nosferatu, where the actor played Count Orlok/the titular vampire.

It – Welcome to Derry also stars Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, Jovan Adepo, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Stephen Rider. The series is set to release later in 2025 on HBO Max.
