Actor Chris Pine will star in the upcoming action thriller Run the Night, besides producing it for Lionsgate and Hidden Pictures. It marks the first feature film for director Robert Alonzo, who is well regarded as a second unit director and action coordinator known for his work on major productions such as Deadpool, The Flash, and The Batman, among others. Lionsgate has secured the rights to distribute the film worldwide.

Run the Night centres on a banker who finds himself in a perilous situation. Alleged of betraying a Dutch mob called the Penose, he is left naked in Amsterdam centre with a $10 million bounty on his head. As the city's most dangerous gangs hunt him down, he must race against time until dawn to save his spouse and child. His desperate mission will reveal that his role was far more complex than simply handling money. The screenplay is penned by John Glenn and Alex Davidson, based on a story by Glenn.

Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures will produce the film alongside Alex Young, president of Hidden Pictures; Pine and Ian Gotler, under their Barry Linen banner; and Glenn.

Reflecting on the project, Pine stated, "I love this story, character, and reuniting with Rob, who I worked with on 2009’s Star Trek. There are so many avenues to explore with this character, and I’m thrilled about the prospect of bringing him to life on screen."

Erin Fogelson of Lionsgate expressed enthusiasm, saying, "Chris is an exceptional actor who possesses the perfect blend of warmth and physicality necessary to embody this role. We are proud to be the home of Todd Lieberman’s Hidden Pictures and to collaborate with him and this incredibly talented filmmaking team on what promises to be a gripping and action-packed thriller."

Lieberman added, "Rob Alonzo is poised to become the next great action director. With Rob's talent behind the camera and a movie star like Chris leading the cast, I am excited about what we have in store for audiences."

Alonzo, who won the SAG Award twice, boasts an impressive resume with over 200 credits spanning film, television, music videos, and advertisements as a stuntman, fight choreographer, second unit director, and stunt coordinator. In 2024, he co-founded the production company Tremor House with Jonathan Spano, focusing on developing, producing, and financing mid-budget action films. His recent work includes directing action sequences for Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World, and he is currently serving as the second unit director on Avengers: Doomsday.
