Outlander and The Hobbit actor Graham McTavish is set to headline Gunn, an upcoming action-horror thriller from genre filmmaker Neil Marshall, best known for Dog Soldiers, The Descent, and episodes of Game of Thrones.

Set amid the remote desolation of a North Sea oil rig, Gunn follows a harrowing survival tale as the rig is overtaken by a mysterious pagan sect. The script, penned by Doug Rao, won the prestigious Gold Prize at the Page International Screenwriting Awards, setting high expectations for the eerie, high-stakes story.

The film sees McTavish reuniting with Rao, who directed the actor in his recent psychological thriller Dirty Boy, a film that earned Best Film honours at the Maverick Movie Awards. Gunn also marks a return to form for Marshall, revisiting the gritty, high-concept thrills of his early work, including cult favourites Dog Soldiers and The Descent.

The film will be produced by Mark Myers under the Citizen Skull banner, with additional production from John Hermann (Standing Up) and Rao himself.
