With Apple TV+ finalising a deal for Stowaway, Oscar Isaac is to star as Juan Carlos Guzman, reports Variety. The title refers to Guzman's arrival in the USA as a wheel-well stowaway.

Guzman is an international criminal and a conman who, starting in 1993, went on to steal at least US $1 million from various countries in a span of 20 years. He has been pursued in Canada, Colombia, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Thailand, and Venezuela.

Isaac is known for his roles in the Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis, Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive, JC Chandor's A Most Violent Year, Alex Garland's Ex Machina, and Denis Villeneuve's Dune. He has starred in X-Men: Apocalypse as the mutant Apocalypse and as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Steven Levenson is developing Stowaway with Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. Isaac is an executive producer for the series with Elvira Lind and Gena Konstantinakos under Mad Gene Media. Matthew Bremner and Drew Comins, under his Creative Engine, and Levenson and Gomes-Rejon are executive producers.
