Over the last few days, the internet has been inundated with images of iconic film characters and moments from real life paying tribute to Studio Ghibli creations that are made with OpenAI's latest image generator tool. While this trend has not gone down well with many Studio Ghibli loyalists and animation enthusiasts, it caught the attention of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. In an X post, resembling ChatGPT commands, Altman wrote:

">be me

>grind for a decade trying to help make superintelligence to cure cancer or whatever

>mostly no one cares for first 7.5 years, then for 2.5 years everyone hates you for everything

>wake up one day to hundreds of messages: "look i made you into a twink Ghibli style haha."

Besides, Altman even changed his X profile picture to one that pays tribute to Studio Ghibli.

Hayao Miyazaki, the filmmaker cum co-founder of the studio, had expressed his contempt for animation made with artificial intelligence after he saw one such visual of himself.
