Jonathan Majors has been cast in the upcoming action film True Threat, directed by Gerard McMurray. This follows Jonathan Majors' casting in the upcoming revenge thriller Merciless, directed by Martin Villeneuve.

According to the makers, True Threat revolves around Special Forces operative Vernon Threat (Jonathan Majors) on a relentless mission for justice after his teenage son is killed by a Harlem gang called The Apollo Kids. Determined to avenge his loss, Threat infiltrates The Carter, a towering 20-story housing project that serves as the gang’s stronghold, fighting his way to the top floor to confront their leader—and his former mentor—Shallow.

The film promises to be an engaging, culturally resonant, and high-energy cinematic experience which has themes of fatherhood, brotherhood, and community responsibility.

The script has been written by McMurray along with Hodge K Johnson. Interestingly, True Threat will be the first major film to showcase a Black American martial arts style 52 Blocks.

Jonathan Majors currently stars in Elijah Bynum’s Magazine Dreams, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

Majors gained recognition with his breakout role in A24’s The Last Black Man in San Francisco and later starred in HBO’s Lovecraft Country, Netflix’s The Harder They Fall, and Devotion alongside Glen Powell. His performance in Creed III with Michael B Jordan contributed to a record-breaking $58.3 million domestic opening in the US and the highest-grossing sports film debut at $156.2 million.

Additional credits include ABC’s When We Rise, Columbia Pictures’ White Boy Rick with Matthew McConaughey, and his portrayal of He Who Remains in Marvel’s Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
