After expanding the American Story franchise into horror, crime, and sports, FX has cast its first member in Ryan Murphy's American Love Story, reports Variety. While American Horror Story and American Crime Story have multiple seasons out, American Sports Story had its first season, which was about Aaron Hernandez, released in 2024.

The first season of American Love Story will be based on the Kennedys. Pidgeon is set to portray Carolyn Bessette, who worked as a model and then worked for Calvin Klein as a director of publicity. Her highly publicised relationship with John F Kennedy Jr in the 90s forms the crux of the show.

Pidgeon is known for her work on Gotham and Tiny Beautiful Things.

Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson serve as executive producers on American Love Story. They are also the producers of American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and American Sports Story. American Love Story is produced by 20th Television.
