Star Wars actors Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich join hands for a romantic comedy

After making films like Miss Congeniality and Mystic Pizza and the series The Kominsky Method with Michael Douglas, Donald Petrie is set to direct a new romantic comedy, The Last Resort, reports Deadline. It will be written by Karen McCullah, who has written 10 Things I Hate About You and Legally Blonde.

The film stars Daisy Ridley as Brooke, an heiress of a hotel empire who is focused on proving herself. When travelling to the Philippines to scout for a location for a new resort, she meets Ben, played by Alden Ehrenreich, who is a pilot. With Ben opening her eyes to the beauty of the Philippines and her duty to her resort chain, she must choose between both lives.

On the production side, Ernesto “Bong” Sta Maria Jr and Raja Collins are the producers for the film. Simon Heo, Akshay Mehta, and Rick Dugdale are the co-producers. Manuel V Pangilinan is an executive producer on The Last Resort. The film has no confirmed release date.

Ridley and Ehrenreich are known for their roles in the Star Wars universe. Ridley played Rey, the lead of the Star Wars sequel series. A role she is set to reprise in Star Wars: New Jedi Order. Ehrenreich plays Han Solo, in Solo: A Star Wars story. He is known for his roles in Oppenheimer and Fair Play.
