Sean Baker's comedy-drama, Anora, which made headlines at the 97th Academy Awards by bagging five awards, is all set to premiere on JioHotstar on March 17. The film won Best Director, Best Editing, Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress (Mikey Madison).

Earlier, Anora bagged the coveted Palme d'Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Starring alongside Mark Eydelshteyn, Madison plays Anora Mikheeva, a stripper who marries the son of a Russian oligarch.

Yura Borisov, Karren Karagulian, Vache Tovmasyan, Darya Ekamasova, and Aleksei Serebryakov round out the supporting cast of Anora. The film was released theatrically on October 18, 2024, by Neon.

Anora is produced by Alex Coco, Samantha Quan, and Sean Baker under the FilmNation Entertainment and Cre Film banners. It was nominated for five awards at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, seven at the 78th British Academy Film Awards (winning Best Actress and Best Casting), and six at the 97th Academy Awards, with Baker, Madison, and Borisov receiving nominations at each ceremony.

It is to be noted that Baker beat Walt Disney's record for the number of Academy Awards won for a single film (four). Anora is also the fourth film to have won both the Palme d'Or and the Academy Award for Best Picture.
