Oscars 2025: Dune: Part Two bags best sound and best visual effects

Interestingly, Dune: Part One also won an Oscar each for best visual effects and best sound three years ago

At the 97th Academy Awards, Denis Villeneuve's film Dune: Part Two has so far won Oscar awards in two of the five categories in which it got nominated. The film won an Oscar each for best visual effects and best sound. Paul Lambert, Stephen James, Rhys Salcombe and Gerd Nefzer worked on the film's visual effects. On the other hand, Gareth John, Richard King, Ron Bartlett and Doug Hemphill created the sound for the film.

Interestingly, Lambert and Nefzer also won a Best Visual Effects Oscar for their work on Dune: Part One three years ago, alongside Tristan Myles and Brian Connor. Besides, Bartlett and Hemphill also won a Best Sound Oscar for their work on the 2021 film, alongside fellow nominees and sound creators Mac Ruth, Mark Mangini, and Theo Green.

Dune: Part Two lost out to The Brutalist in the production design and cinematography categories, where it received nominations. The film also has a Best Picture Oscar nomination.
