Pixar announces new film titled Gatto

Pixar announced the film at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival

Pixar is venturing into the waters of Venice as it announces a new film titled Gatto. The announcement was made in a presentation at the Annecy International Film Festival.

According to the official storyline released by Pixar, the film centres around a black cat named Nero. After being indebted to a feline mob boss, Nero is pushed to form an unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his true purpose.

Gatto is directed by Enrico Casarosa, who has previously directed Pixar's Luca. He has also worked as a story artist on Cars, Cars 2, Ratatouille, and Up. He was also the head of story on The Good Dinosaur. Currently in production, Gatto is set to be released in 2027.

The next film to be released from Pixar's upcoming slate of films is Elio, which is set to be released on June 20. Elio stars Zoe Saldana and Jameela Jamil, amongst others, and is about a teenager who is transported from Earth to another universe.
