After a gangster joined the series, a cop joins the series, with Titus Welliver joining MGM+'s The Westies. JK Simmons stars in the series, which is about the eponymous crime organisation.

Following the titular crime syndicate, the series is set around the construction of the Jacob Javitz Convention, Hell's Kitchen, New York, USA, in the 1980s. The Westies have to go against the mighty Five Families of the Italian Mafia, handle the internal conflict within The Westies, and deal with an FBI investigation.

According to Deadline, Welliver will portray Glenn Keenan, a New York police officer who is conflicted between his history with The Westies, his son, and the law.

Brancato adds The Westies, alongside other crime shows like Narcos and Godfather of Harlem, to his filmography. Brancato serves as a showrunner for The Westies and serves as an executive producer with Micheal Panes. The series is set to begin production in Toronto in July, with an eight-episode series order.
