HBO's Harry Potter series continues to add to its cast days after the lead trio was announced, with Bertie Carvel joining the series, reported Deadline. The series is touted to be a "faithful" adaptation of the novels by JK Rowling.

Bertie Carvel has previously portrayed former UK Prime Minister in Netflix's acclaimed series The Crown. He is set to portray Baelor Targaryen in HBO's upcoming prequel to Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Other cast members include Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

Francesca Gardiner is the creator, writer and showrunner for the series. She serves as an executive producer along with Mark Mylod, who directs multiple episodes of the series. Other executive producers include JK Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Bronte Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
