Amid ongoing speculation about who the next James Bond will be, former 007 star Pierce Brosnan has thrown his weight behind his MobLand co-star Tom Hardy. Brosnan, who played Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002, initially said that he does not want to choose anybody for the role and that the new owner of the franchise, Amazon, should make the decision. However, when asked further about Hardy's aptness for the role, Brosnan said that he would make a "wonderful" Bond. Brosnan also said that "many great actors" could play James Bond. Notably, recently, Brosnan also backed Cillian for the role.

The actor addressed Amazon's recent acquisition of James Bond from MGM, calling it an "exciting moment in the history" of the franchise. Recently, he also backed his MobLand co-star Helen Mirren's criticism of Bond's "profound sexism".

An actor is yet to be cast as James Bond since Daniel Craig's departure as 007 with 2021's No Time to Die. Interestingly, Craig had an indifferent response to who he thinks should be the next James Bond.
