Top Gun: Maverick's Monica Barbaro joins Luca Guadagnino's Artificial

Monica Barbaro, who starred alongside Tom Cruise in Joseph Kosinski's Top Gun: Maverick, received an Oscar nomination for her role in James Mangold's A Complete Unknown

After the world of naval aviation and Bob Dylan, Monica Barbaro is all set to enter the world of artificial intelligence, as she joins the cast of Artificial. The film is directed by Luca Guadagnino, who has previously directed Challengers and Call Me By Your Name.

Touted as a comedic drama, the film is set in the rising world of artificial intelligence. Barbaro joins a cast which consists of Andrew Garfield, Jason Schwartzman, Yura Borisov, Cooper Hoffmann, and Cooper Koch. According to Variety, Ike Barniholtz remains in talks to join the film.

Barbaro broke out in 2022, for her role as Pheonix in Joseph Kosinski's Top Gun: Maverick, alongside Tom Cruise. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as singer Joan Baez, in the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, which was directed by James Mangold.

Guadagnino is meanwhile gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, After The Hunt. The film is his first collaboration with Garfield, before Artificial. After The Hunt also stars Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebri, Chloe Sevigny, and Michael Stuhlbarg.
