Steven Yeun to voice major character in Avatar: The Last Airbender film

At the San Diego Comic Con, 2025, the creators of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko confirmed in an interview to IGN, that Steven Yeun will voice Fire Lord Zuko, in the upcoming animated film, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.

In Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series, Zuko was the banished prince of the Fire Nation, which waged war with the rest of that world. A world in which people could bend fire, water, air, and earth. Tasked by the Fire Lord to find and capture the Avatar, the only person who can bend all four elements. Zuko quickly became a fan favourite character, as his arc of redemption from a war-monger to a pacifist, made the audience root for him.

Yeun who was earlier confirmed to be part of the cast has a varied career across films and television in projects like The Walking Dead, Sorry to Bother You, Minari, and Beef.

The rest of the cast of the film includes David Bautista, who is supposedly playing the villain, Eric Nam, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, and Ramon Zaragoza. Lauren Montgomery will direct the film, with William Mata as a co-director. Nickelodeon and the recently created Avatar Studios will back the film. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender will release on October 6, 2026.
