20 years after the release of The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly has refused to slow down. She is back, iconic than ever, in custom-made leather skirt with a lavender shirt and a beige trench coat. Her first images from the sets of the sequel in New York city have gone viral on social media.

Anne Hathaway's recent pictures for the film as Andrea Sachs had also sent fans into a frenzy. Directed by David Frankel, who helmed the first film with a screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna (also a part of the original), the film also sees the return of Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci who are also reprising their roles as Emily Charlton and Nigel.

The 2006 film, considered a cult classic among fans and a mirror to the cutthroat fashion world, saw Andrea Sachs rediscovering herself after building herself a notable name at Runway magazine headed by the fiercely sharp-tongued Miranda Priestly. The new film opens at a time when media has undergone vast changes -- notably the decline of the print medium. The tables have turned and Emily is now at a powerful position in the industry and Miranda finds herself in loggerheads with her former assistant as she controls the the advertising budget Miranda urgently requires.

The newcomers for the sequel include Kenneth Branagh, set to play Miranda’s husband, as well as Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammal in undisclosed roles. Broadway talents Helen J Shen and Conrad Ricamora, along with comedian Caleb Hearon, will also feature in the sequel. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman reprise their roles as Lily, Andy’s best friend, and the chairman of Runway’s parent company, respectively.

Scheduled to release in theatres on May 1, 2026, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is backed by Disney's 20th Century Studios and is currently in production.
