A while ago, JioHotstar announced that the IT prequel series Welcome To Derry will drop on the streaming platform in October, without specifying the release date. The series, set 27 years before the first IT film, serves as an origin story for Pennywise the Clown, a predatory clown targetting children. As reported earlier, Bill Skarsgard reprises his role as Pennywise from the films in the series that hails from creator and IT films' director Andy Muschietti. It – Welcome to Derry also stars Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, Jovan Adepo, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Stephen Rider.

Production has wrapped on the IT prequel series. Skarsgard also serves as an executive producer on the show, which draws from Stephen King's IT universe. Director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs developed the story for IT: Welcome To Derry, based on King's novel. Expanding on Muschietti's vision from the two feature films, the series consists of nine episodes.

Barbara Muschietti, Jason Fuchs, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee, all producers from the film franchise, produce the series. This project reunites Skarsgard with Warner Bros. Television Studios following Castle Rock, a WBTV co-production that streamed on Hulu.
