A new trailer for the upcoming fantasy film, Red Sonja, has been released online recently. Matilda Lutz stars in the titular role as the sword-weilding warrior.

The film is based on the comic book character of the same name, which was created for Marvel Comics by Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith. Thomas and Windsor-Smith were in turn inspired by Robert E Howard's character Red Sonja.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows, "Enslaved by an evil tyrant who wishes to destroy her people, barbarian huntress Red Sonja must unite a group of unlikely warriors to face off against Dragan The Magnificent and his deadly bride, Dark Annisia."

Matilda Lutz stars as Red Sonja, with Robert Sheehan, Wallis Day, Martyn Ford, Michael Bisping, Phillip Winchester and Trevor Eve.

Red Sonja is directed by MJ Bassett from a script by Tasha Huo. Bassett serves as a producer with Lati Grobman, Les Weldon, Joe Gatta, Christa Campbell, Yariv Lerner, Luke Lieberman, Avi Lerner, Jonathan Younger, Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon.
