Actor Chris Pratt is set to reprise the titular role in an animated sequel to The Garfield Movie.

Sony Pictures' 2024 film earned over $230 million at the global box office. The sequel will be produced by Alcon's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, along with Pratt, John Cohen, Steve P. Wegner, and Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios. DNEG Animation is back on board as the film's animation partner. However, the makers are yet to rope in a writer and director.

The first film was directed by Mark Dindal, known for his work in Chicken Little and The Emperor's New Groove. Apart from Pratt, the film also featured Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Brett Goldstein, Cecily Strong, Hannah Waddingham, and Bowen Yang.

Alcon had obtained the rights from Jim Davis, creator of Garfield. Davis will join Bridget McMeel to serve as the film's executive producer.

Last seen in Netflix's The Electric State, Pratt's upcoming films include Mercy and Way of the Warrior Kid. Both films are under post-production.
