Actors Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy will play the lead roles in the romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other, for Amazon MGM, based on Sarah Hogle's novel of the same name. The novel won a two-time Goodreads Choice Award nomination.

Writers Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, whose works in hits such as Never Been Kissed and He's Just Not That Into You, are directing this film. The duo has revised the script written by Brett Haley and Marc Basch.

The film will be financed and produced by Fifth Season, along with Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron of Likely Story.

The rom-com is described as a lovers-turned-enemies-turned-lovers that follows Naomi and Nick, whose soon-to-be 'happily ever after' wedding is thrown off track as they both fall out of love. As their D Day nears, both conspire together to call off the wedding, only to fall in love again.

The fame of Badgley, who is known for her role in CW's Gossip Girl, shot to fame with Netflix's You, Margin Call, and Emma Stone's Easy A. Fahy, who won an Emmy nomination for her role in The White Lotus, had Drop release this February, and is starring in Netflix series Sirens, alongside Milly Alcock and Julianne Moore.
