Last May, we reported about Keanu Reeves and Kirsten Dunst starring in a satire film titled The Entertainment System Is Down, alongside Daniel Bruhl, Nicholas Braun, Tobias Menzies, and Samantha Morton. Now, the makers have started production on the film in Budapest. The Ruben Ostlund directorial has also added to its cast. The latest additions include Connor Swindells, Wayne Blair, Lindsay Duncan, Daniel Webber, Allan Corduner, Dan Wyllie, Erin Ainsworth, Sofia Tjelta Sydness, Sanna Sundqvist, Myles Kamwendo, Tea Stjarne, Benjamin Ingrosso, and Elle Piper.

The plot revolves around a long flight from England to Australia where the failure of the entertainment system drives passengers to boredom. According to reports, the makers use a set created with a Boeing 747 and plan to shoot the film in Hungary's capital city for 70 days until May.

The Entertainment System Is Down is Ostlund's sophomore directorial in English and seventh overall. He is best known for The Square and Triangle of Sadness, which won the prestigious Palme d’Or award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 and 2022, respectively.
