Actor Jeremy Allen White, who is currently playing the lead in Scott Cooper's directorial Deliver Me from Nowhere, has signed to play the lead in Netflix's bisexual romantic drama Enigma Variations.

Based on the eponymous novel of André Aciman, the project, currently under development on Netflix, could be the second on-screen adaptation of the author's work after the Oscar-nominated Call Me by Your Name, starring Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer, directed by Luca Guadagnino with James Ivory as the writer.

White will play the role of Paul, who is as passionate about his romances in his adulthood as he was during his adolescence. Be it his childhood crush or his love for a girl he meets on New England's snowbound campus, his attachments are marked by raw desire. Through Paul's journey, the series is expected to capture the inconsistencies in what we may want and what we don't and may remain enigmatic to ourselves and to others.

Amanda Kate Shuman is attached as the writer and show runner of the series, directed by Oliver Hermanus and produced by Media Res. Amanda, Oliver and Jeremy will serve as the executive producers of series along with Aciman and Media Res' Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer.

Jeremy, apart from the Bruce Springsteen biopic, will also be seen in The Mandalorian & Grogu and You Can't Win, which are in different stages of production.
