Earlier today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the final set of nominees for best original screenplay and best adapted screenplay Oscar categories. For Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar, the nominees comprise A Complete Unknown (James Mangold and Jay Cocks); Conclave (Peter Straughan); Emilia Pérez (Jacques Audiard, Thomas Bidegain, Léa Mysius, and Nicolas Livecchi); Nickel Boys (RaMell Ross and Joslyn Barnes); and Sing Sing (Clint Bentley and Greg Kwedar).

For Best Original Screenplay Oscar, the nominees are: Anora (Sean Baker); The Brutalist (Brady Corbet and Mona Fastvold); A Real Pain (Jesse Eisenberg); September 5 (Moritz Binder, Tim Fehlbaum, and Alex David); and The Substance (Coralie Fargeat).

The much-discussed Wicked and Dune: Part 2 do not have a nomination in the adapted screenplay category, which are considered the biggest snubs in the screenplay sections.

The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 02, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
