Netflix's 1899 series star Emily Beecham and actor, Oppenheimer star David Krumholtz have become part of director Craig Gillespie's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. They will portray Supergirl's parents. Bilquis Evely and Tom King's Supergirl book series inspired the film, which went on floors earlier this week at Leavesden in the UK. The film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. Gillespie is directing from an Ana Nogueira screenplay.

Eve Ridley is set to appear in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, while Matthias Schoenaerts takes on the role of Krem. On the other hand, a cameo appearance from Jason Momoa is expected as a bounty hunter character named Lobo.

Supergirl is among the first few projects to be developed at Peter Safran and James Gunn's DC Studios. Alcock has been attached to the titular role for about a year now, and her character will feature first in James Gunn's Superman.
