Jesse Armstrong, Creator of Succession, to make an HBO Original film

Jesse Armstrong is reuniting with HBO again after creating the hit series Succession for the studio. He is working with Succession Executive Producer Frank Rich on a new project, which will be an original film for HBO. Deadline first reported the news. According to reports, the film revolves around a meeting of four friends during a global financial crisis. Armstrong is writing the screenplay, with the studio planning to commence production later in 2025.

Armstrong is most popular for his writing for television. His best-known works include titles such as Fresh Meat, Peep Show, Black Mirror, and Veep. He has also made a name for himself on the film front, with an Academy Award nomination as the co-writer of In the Loop, featuring Peter Capaldi, Gina McKee, James Gandolfini, and Tom Hollander. He also adapted the popular French black comedy Force Majeure, starring Johannes Bah Kuhnke and Lisa Loven Kongsli, into Downhill, featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell.
