Shruti Haasan makes her acting debut in an English film with The Eye, a psychological thriller from director Daphne Schmon. Also starring Mark Rowley, opposite Shruti, The Eye is set to open the Wench Film Festival in Mumbai, slated to take place from February 27 to March 02. The festival will mark its India premiere.

Going by the trailer, the film hints at the story of Shruti's character, a woman grappling with the loss of her partner, as she returns to an island. Further, the tagline, "What if death was not the end?" and some of the visuals in the trailer suggest a mysterious ritual to bring her partner back from death.

The Eye also stars Linda Marlowe, Anna Savva, Christos Stergioglou, and Elpida Stathatou. Produced by Melanie Dicks of Fingerprint Content, in association with Media Finance Capital and co-production with Argonauts Productions, the film is shot in Greek locations such as Corfu and Athens.

The film wrapped production in December 2022. At the time, Shruti wrote on social media, "I found a film family in a new country and made memories I will cherish forever. For that, I am genuinely so grateful. Thank you for making me a part of this beautiful film."

Describing it as "the first sustainably produced film made in Greece," the makers revealed that the film will hit theatres later this year.
