The long-gestated Constantine sequel might finally be coming to fruition, with the makers, including director Francis Lawrence, making a story pitch for it to DC Studios. Keanu Reeves, who starred in the 2005 supernatural thriller, made the revelation in a recent interview with Inverse. Without giving away any plot detail, Reeves also stated that the film would have the same setting as the original Constantine. "John Constantine’s going to be tortured even more," the John Wick star stated about Constantine 2.

Reeves' revelation comes hot on the heels of director Lawrence's recent comments about them being "closer than ever to being able to do a sequel."

Formed on the basis of the Hellblazer comics' character John Constantine, the film stars Reeves as a world-weary, chain-smoking demon hunter trying to cheat his way out of hell by sending enough bad guys back where they belong. The cast also includes Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Djimon Hounsou, Max Baker, and Tilda Swinton.
