The cast list for the live-action Masters of the Universe film keeps getting bigger, with the addition of Sasheer Zamata (Agatha All Along), Christian Vunipola (Miguel Wants to Fight), and Jon Xue Zhang (The Brothers Sun). The Travis Knight directorial stars Nicholas Galitzine in the role of He-Man. The other previously revealed actors include Jared Leto, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, Charlotte Riley, Kojo Attah, Sam C Wilson, and Hafthor Bjornsson.
Mattel unveiled its Masters of the Universe franchise with an action figure toy line launched in 1982. The subsequent year saw the release of the animation series titled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe before the launch of the toy line-based merchandise, including video games.
Production on the film, based on Mattel's toys, is underway, with Knight working from a screenplay that Chris Butler wrote, with an initial draft by David Callaham, Adam Nee, and Aaron Nee. The makers are yet to disclose plot details.
