Natalie Portman has been cast in the lead role in Good Sex, a romantic-comedy film from writer-director Lena Dunham. Portman will play Ally, a marriage counsellor who is in her late 30s and is single. On the insistence of her close friend, she simultaneously enters a traditional relationship with an older adult named Alan and a short sexual relationship with a Brooklyn-based hipster who is half her age. Ally's romantic life turns into a complicated situation, as she tries to manage relationships with both men while figuring out her own feelings, risking the possibility of losing them.

Portman will also produce the film with her MountainA partner Sophie Mas, alongside Dunham and Michael Cohen of the banner Good Thing Going.

In 2016, Portman told Entertainment Weekly that Dunham inspired her to direct her maiden film, A Tale of Love and Darkness that also stars her, from her own screenplay.

Portman recently wrapped production on The Gallerist, a film with director Cathy Yan. Her upcoming projects also include Fountain Of Youth with filmmaker Guy Ritchie. On the other hand, Dunham has the Netflix series Too Much, starring Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe, in the pipeline.
