In the upcoming film Anaconda, Jack Black and Paul Rudd portray friends who come across the titular reptile while attempting a low-budget remake of the 1997 original in the Amazon, transforming their filmmaking gig into an act of survival. From the premise itself, it is apparent that the film is not merely looking to remake the 1997 original, although we can only comment on the final results after its release. Its co-scribe Kevin Etten and director Tom Gormican recently talked about the creative process behind the film's making. Speaking about its creative vision, Etten said, "The more we thought about it, we realised there was an opportunity to have fun with it. We saw the potential to create big laughs and comedic moments, and at the same time, scare the audience and ground the characters, so you’re rooting for them to succeed. We focused on giving the audience a fun ride and not letting them off it."

According to the makers, the Amazon setting makes it ripe for mining comedy out of the chaotic situation. However, Gormican shared, "It was a long process to arrive at a tone that satisfied our appetite for each genre we attempted to blend. But as always, we relied on great actors to help us bridge the gaps. If the characters took whatever was happening seriously, it would allow the stakes to be real and their unpreparedness for the jungle to be funny."

Anaconda is hitting theatres on December 25 through Sony Pictures Entertainment India, also with dubs in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
