Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey trailer: Matt Damon leads his soliders on a perilous journey home

Matt Damon reunites with Christopher Nolan after Interstellar (2014) and Oppenheimer (2023) for The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey trailer: The trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has been released by Universal Pictures. Based on Homer's epic poem of the same name, the film stars Matt Damon in the lead as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca.

"After years of war, no one could stand between my men and and home. Not even me," says Odysseus. The trailer opens with Odysseus bending the knee to Agamemmnon (Benny Safdie) as Menelaus (Jon Bernthal) watches on. The trailer then cuts to Ithaca, where glimpses of Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and Telemachus (Tom Holland), Odysseus' wife and son are shown. Tempests, misdirections, and wars, and are hinted at the trailer which is topped of at a first look of a Cyclops.

After Nolan's split from Warner Bros, he teamed up with Universal for Oppenheimer (2023). On December 2024, it was revealed that Nolan's next would be an adaptation of Homer's epic, which chronicles the journey of Odysseus and his army, after the end of The Trojan Way, to Ithaca, which takes 10 years. Filming on the project began in February and was completed in August.

The cast of the film also include Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, John Leguizamo, HImesh Patel, and Mia Goth.

Nolan regulars like Oscar winner Hoyte van Hoytema and Oscar Winner Ludwig Goransson are part of The Odyssey. The former is handling cinematography, while the latter is composing the music.

The Odyssey is releasing theatrically on June 17.
