Amanda Seyfried expressed her eagerness to have another instalment to her hit 2008 film Mamma Mia!, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and believes whatever the story is going to be, it will be "really interesting".
The musical rom-com, starring an ensemble cast which includes Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters and Dominic Cooper, among others, revolved around a young bride-to-be named Sophie who invites three men to her upcoming wedding, with the possibility that any of them could be her real father. A second part to the film titled Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, was directed by Ol Parker and released in 2018. A prequel and a sequel, the plot is set after the events of the previous film, and is intersected with flashbacks to Donna's youth in 1979, with some scenes from the two time periods.
Amanda, who appeared as a lead in both the films excitedly said, "I'm going to keep campaigning for that movie until I'm blue in the face." With the sequel revolving around her motherhood, Seyfried said she would be interesting in exploring the "curiosities of motherhood and raising children" in the next film. "Oh, with kids. I mean, I love being a mother...I love playing a mother, and I would love to dive into the curiosities of motherhood and raising children on a Greek island — just like (Streep's) Donna did with Sophie," she added.
While underscoring that she doesn't know about the story of the upcoming instalment, the actor shared, "I have no idea where the story is going to go, but I know there's going to be a lot of singing and dancing."
Seyfried can be seen alongside Sydney Sweeney in the upcoming psychological thriller The Housemaid which hits theatres in India on January 2, 2026. Directed by Paul Feig, the rest of the cast of the film includes Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins.
The offical storyline of the film reads, "Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous – a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power."
