Ryan Gosling led Star Wars: Starfighter wraps production

Shawn Levy, who has directed the Night at the Museum films and Deadpool and Wolverine (2024), is directing Star Wars: Starfighter, which stars Ryan Gosling in the lead

Director Shawn Levy took to X to announce the completion of Star Wars: Starfighter, and shared a photo from the sets of the film. Ryan Gosling and Amy Adams lead the cast of the film which is set to release in 2027.

While the plot of the film is yet to be revealed, the story is set five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Talking about the film previously, Levy said, "Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever."

Production on the film began in August 2025, with Lucasfilm announcing the full cast which includes Flynn Gray, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Matt Smith.

Jonathan Tropper has written the film, which is produced by Levy and Kathleen Kennedy.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the next release from the Star Wars franchise. A spinoff to series, The Mandalorian, the film sees the return of Pedro Pascal as the titular character from the series. Jon Favreau directs the film which is set to release theatrically in 2026.
