Tom Cruise's next with Alejandro G Inarritu titled Digger; gets October 2026 release

Tom Cruise's upcoming film, directed by Alejandro G Inarritu, is titled Digger. The film is set to be released in theatres on October 2, 2026.

Described as a comedy of catastrophic proportions, Digger is Inarritu's return to making films in English after The Revenant (2015), which starred Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead. Inarritu has written the film along with Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, and Sabina Berman. Giacobone and Dinelaris previously worked on Birdman (2014) with Inarritu. Warner Bros is backing the picture.

Cruise will essay the role of Digger Rockwell in the film. The character details of the rest of the cast and the plot are yet to be unveiled.

The cast of the film also includes Sandra Huller, Emma D'Arcy, Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Robert John Burke, and Burn Gorman.

Digger will be Cruise's first non-action role since the 2012 film, Rock of Ages.
