If Idris Elba’s Sam Nelson steps onto public transport, it’s probably best to step off. After surviving the airborne crisis of Season 1, the reluctant negotiator is back, this time trapped beneath Berlin in a subway train seized by armed attackers.

Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for the second season of Hijack, the high-tension thriller created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith. The new chapter arrives globally on January 14, 2026, rolling out weekly before concluding on March 4.

Season 2 marks the return of Elba, who earned an Emmy nomination for his performance in the first season, along with Christine Adams, Max Beesley and Archie Panjabi. The ensemble expands with Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams and Christiane Paul joining the cast.

Kay and Field Smith continue as executive producers through Idiotlamp Productions, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Tom Nash representing 60Forty Films. Smith also steps behind the camera again as the season’s lead director.

The success of Hijack’s debut run positioned it as one of Apple TV+’s rare breakout hits; in August 2023, it became only the streamer’s second title, after Ted Lasso, to land a spot on Nielsen’s overall top-10 streaming chart, a notable feat given Apple’s comparatively smaller subscriber pool.
