Actor Sonoya Mizuno, popular for her roles in Ex Machina, Devs, House of the Dragon, and Crazy Rich Asians, is making her directorial debut with Stages, produced by A24 and Film4.

Mizuno is also serving as a co-producer, along with her frequent collaborator Alex Garland, Peter Rice, Myles Payne, and Sam Ritzenberg.

In addition to her acting, Mizuno is also a gifted dancer. Though there is no official word about the movie's plot, it is expected to have been inspired by her background in dance. She has been a dancer in several companies, such as English National Ballet, Scottish Ballet, and Dresden Semper Oper Ballet. Notably, her acting debut in Ex Machina featured her as an android who performs disco dance.

Sonoya was last seen in Deep Cover, helmed by Tom Kingsley, which released on Prime Video on June 12 this year. She will next be seen in Eternal Return, directed by Yaniv Raz, which stars Naomi Scott and Kit Harington.
