The third story in the Monster saga will be unleashed on Netflix in October. The series, which is titled Monster: The Ed Gein Story, stars Charlie Hunnam as serial killer Ed Gein, who was the inspiration for Psycho (1960), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), and The Silence of the Lambs (1991). Netflix also released posters for the series, inspired by the previously mentioned films.

Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan created Monsters, which follows the anthology format. The first season was based on Jeffrey Dahmer and starred Evan Peters as the killer. The second season was based on the story of Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were played by Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez, respectively.

The rest of the cast of Monster: The Ed Gein Story includes Suzanna Son, Laurie Metcalf, Vicky Krieps, Tyler Jacob Moore, Charlie Hall, Will Brill, Mimi Kennedy, Robin Weigert, with Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock, Olivia Williams as Alma Reville, as Hitchcock's wife, and Joey Pollari as Anthony Perkins, the star of Hitchcock's Psycho.

The official story for the series is as follows, "Serial killer. Grave robber. Psycho. In the frozen fields of 1950s rural Wisconsin, a friendly, mild-mannered recluse named Eddie Gein lived quietly on a decaying farm — hiding a house of horrors so gruesome it would redefine the American nightmare. Driven by isolation, psychosis, and an all-consuming obsession with his mother, Gein’s perverse crimes birthed a new kind of monster that would haunt Hollywood for decades. From Psycho to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs, Gein’s macabre legacy gave birth to fictional monsters born in his image and ignited a cultural obsession with the criminally deviant. Ed Gein didn’t just influence a genre — he became the blueprint for modern horror."

The anthology has also been renewed for a fourth season which will be based on Lizzie Borden, who killed her parents. Ella Beatty will star as Border, with Rebecca Hall and Krieps also starring in the fourth season.
