The HBO series True Detective Season 5 is likely to include actor Nicolas Cage. According to Variety, he is nearing a deal.

With the leads of the past seasons of the series being Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Rachel McAdams, Jodie Foster, and Mahershala Ali, Nicholas Cage could be the latest A-lister in the show. While Ali, McConaughey, Harrelson, and Foster earned Emmy nominations for their respective seasons, Foster bagged an Emmy and Golden Globe Award for her Season 4 performance.

With details about the new season under wraps, Season 5 will be set in New York City's Jamaica Bay area.

If things pan out accordingly, Cage would star in his second TV role, after the live-action Spider-Man Noir set for a 2026 debut on Amazon Prime Video.

Cage is one of the versatile and acclaimed actors, who has to his name performances in films such as Moonstruck, Raising Arizona, National Treasure, Ghost Rider films, and Face/Off. He won an Oscar in the Best Actor category for Leaving Las Vegas. Cage had three releases (Arcadian, The Surfer, and Longlegs) in 2024. He was last seen in this year's Gunslingers, directed by Brian Skiba. He will next be seen in The Carpenter's Son, The Prince, and Madden.
