Quentin Tarantino reveals the reason that his tenth and final film, tentatively titled, The Movie Critic, was shelved. Despite making ten films, the director's Kill Bill films, was originally planned as a single film.

Speaking at the Church of Tarantino podcast Tarantino said, "Every Tarantino title promises so much except The Movie Critic. If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about somebody who watches movies, interesting; that is an accomplishment. And I think I did that."

Talking about what The Movie Critic would have been about, he said, "It's a spiritual sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood insofar as they take place in the same world and they take place in the same town. But there was no crossover characters. Cliff Booth was never in The Movie Critic. That's all a bunch of bulls**t. That never was the case ever, ever, ever."

Speaking about why the decision to shelve the project was made, Tarantino explained, "It was the preproduction that made me realise that I was so excited about the writing, but I wasn't really that excited about dramatizing what I wrote."

Tarantino is currently working on a play which will debut next year. He has also written the script for a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is directed by David Fincher.
