Weeks after Chase Sui Wonders' latest horror outing, I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025), released, the actor will join the reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Wonders' other horror credits also includes the 2022 film Bodies Bodies Bodies.
The reboot, which has Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman as the showrunners, will see Oscar winner Chloe Zhao, directing the pilot. Zhao is the second woman, ever, to win an Oscar for Best Direction, which she won for Nomadland. Kathryn Bigelow was the first woman to win the award, which she won for The Hurt Locker.
The story of the original series follows Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar), the chosen one who becomes the Slayer, who battles dark forces. Spanning seven seasons, the series was created by Joss Whedon, from the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which Whedon wrote.
The cast for the reboot will see the return of Gellar, who will reunite with Wonders after the I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) reboot, Ryan Keira Armstrong, who will play the new chosen one, Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso and Jack Cutmore-Scott.
